A New Apple for The Big Apple

By Jordan • September 6th, 2011

The splendor of Grand Central Station, which once evoked romantic notions of a long-passed era of well-dressed travelers, now brings to mind flash mobs and Steve Jobs. Renderings of the 23,000 square foot east balcony space that will soon be infiltrated by Apple have been released by the MTA.

Judging from the paltry patronage, artists clearly have not been to Apple’s 5th Avenue store, which, by the way, is also under construction. In an effort to “simplify,” Apple knocked down its 90-panel glass cube and is replacing it with a newer, sleeker model, made of just 15 panels.

So if you’re feeling the pinches of today’s economy, just flip on your iPod and hum along, knowing that you’re contributing to the aesthetic improvement of our beautiful city.
