Before-And-After Baths

By Jordan • August 23rd, 2011

With summer winding to a close, it’s time to fill that project pipeline. This Old House ran a contest to find out how homeowners have improved their water closets on the cheap. Keep in mind, investments in the kitchen and bathroom(s) pay off the most when you go to resell! For your inspiration, we submit:

The Winner! Ronda from Utah fixed up her boring bath for just $1,500.

Chuck and Zandra from Oregon gutted their 1909 farmhouse master bath and fit it with reclaimed materials from local lodges and hotels. While the wainscoting is lovely, the color choice is admittedly questionable.

Elizabeth from Ohio figured if her family of 8 was going to share a bath, it might as well be a nice one. Who wouldn’t want to relax by candlelight in this claw foot tub? Keep it short, though–there’s already a line forming at the door.

My Little Pony called Jeon in Cleveland and wanted her bathroom back. Well done Jeon.

New York’s own Philip may be the Hoch Group winner, though. We feel much more comfortable knowing that his precariously perched reading materials and electronic devices are now safely stored in a lovely vanity.

So, with this inspiration, go forth and create a throne of your own!
