Largest Sales To Date For 2011
Curbed pulled together the top 10 Manhattan real estate deals so far this year. Many of them actually had names associated, a change from the LLC charade we’ve seen in the past. Who made the list?
- Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick eeked on at number 10 with their purchase of 20 East 10th St. in Greenwich Village. The 6,800 square foot, 5 bedroom apartment fetched $18.995 million.
- Sean Parker, founding member of Napster and Facebook, purchased the 6,136 square foot Bacchus House at 40 W. 10th St. in Greenwich Village for $20 million.
- Al Kahn, the man behind the Cabbage Patch Kids and Pokemon, and his wife Patsy bought Bernie Madoff’s penthouse at 25 Columbus Circle on the Upper West Side for $20.5 million, $8 million less than list. Before you think they got a deal, note that their former apartment sold for more than $13 million less than list.
- James Murdoch wins the award for biggest townhouse purchase with the 12,118 square foot Muppet Mansion at 117-119 E. 69th for $23 million. Hopefully there’s still some Muppets levity in the walls; he’ll need it after Scotland Yard’s done with him.
- Larry Heyman, chairman of the GAF Group, bought Limited billionaire Leslie Wexler’s 834 5th Avenue apartment for $36 million.
- Russian composer Igor Krutoy takes the number one slot with his $48 million, 6,000 square foot apartment at The Plaza. This is in addition to his and his wife’s recent $23.85 million Southampton Mansion purchase.
