AKA Central Park Outdoor Bedroom

Does the idea of camping sound romantic, but you’re put off by the annoying sound of the brisk breeze rustling through surrounding trees; twinkling stars dizzying your senses; bugling elk ousting you from REM; cheerful, chirping birds waking you way before the brunch hour?  New Yorkers, we hear you, we empathize, and we have the answer.

You can now be lulled to sleep in your natural habitat, featuring incessant horn honking; ear-splitting sirens; 24-hour trash collection; the light pollution of starless skies; and an occasional drunken outburst.

For a pittance ($3,000), the kind staff of the AKA Central Park will gladly yank the bed onto the 17th-floor penthouse patio and provide you with a champagne-and-strawberry picnic in front of a wood-burning fireplace, then give you flashlights to find your way to the indoor bedroom, modern plumbing and double-paned windows.

If you can’t resist the novelty of urban camping, but are saving your three grand for the down payment on your next apartment, visit the Affinia Gardens on the Upper East Side. For about 10% of the AKA penthouse price, you’ll get a terrace suite with a fenced rear patio, and for an extra $35 you can pitch a tent on it. Now that’s city living.
