Say привет To Your New Hamptons Neighbor
Rumor has it that Russians are fleeing the French Riviera and picking up the slack for Wall Street, paying premium prices for real estate in the Hamptons. On the rental side, billionaire Igor Sosin is paying $860,000 for a two-month summer stint in a 12-bedroom Southampton mansion. That’s $13,871 per day.
On the fence between buying and renting, Mikhail Prokhorov, the third richest man in Russia, #39 on Forbes’ list of the World’s billionaires, and new owner of the New Jersey Nets has reportedly been looking at Hamptons mansions. And in it for the longer term is Russian composer Igor Krutoy, who just dropped $23.85 million on a Southhampton mansion to complement his and his wife’s $40 million, 6,000 square foot condo at the Plaza.
