104-Year-Old Heiress’s Quarter Billion in Real Estate Assets

By Jordan • June 8th, 2011

As just about everyone in America is keeping their fingers crossed that somehow, as a result of a torrid love affair that was sworn to secrecy, they are the long lost great-grandchild of seclusive copper heiress Huguette Clark.

Combined, the value of her homes in Connecticut, California and New York could be as much as a quarter billion dollars. 907 Fifth Avenue alone, boasting the title of the largest apartment on 5th that overlooks Central Park, is projected to be worth $100 million, with its 42 rooms split between the 8th and 12th floors. The property hasn’t been lived in for 20 years, but was reportedly cleaned and maintained three days a week during Clark’s two-decade hospitalization.

On the left coast, the 23-acre estate Bellosguardo was originally purchased by William Clark for $300,000 in 1923. The property is expected to command $80-100 million. Not a bad return on investment.

With the legacy of an heiress also comes the legal hoops, though, so neither of these properties will be for sale until “issues” have been resolved. You can, however, purchase the 12,766 square foot country house in Canaan, Connecticut, for $24 million. Apparently the fact that it has been on the market for years exempts it from the red tape.
