Yes, it’s true. Housing prices across New York are actually going… up?

Most of the recent news is about how average home prices are continuing to decline year over year, but September saw New York state with the highest level of home appreciation in the United States. New York state home prices actually went UP 2.67%. According to the CoreLogic report, the nationwide home prices depreciated by 2.79% in September, up from the 1.08% depreciation seen in August.

The New York increase, based on CoreLogic figures, include the sales of distressed homes- take those homes out and New York state home prices rose year-over-year by 3.82% in September. New York leads the pack of just seven states where home prices increased over the past year,  during that period, as the national housing market continues to struggle.

One more reason to be glad you live in New York.
