Creative Lighting Design

Creative design is an important aspect of any living space, and as we enter the winter months, creative design around the lighting takes on a whole different shine. As the days get shorter, here are some interesting lighting designs from a recent article in Houzz.

Picture 1These chandelier variations break the light onto strong, straight surfaces…

Picture 3As Houzz notes, the hanging stars are a dramatic and effective counter-point to the arches.

Picture 4Here the strong verticals of the lighting appear in everything from the seating to the window dressings and drapes.

Picture 5This lighting array gives personality and color to a room otherwise dependent on horizontal lines and muted tones.

Picture 8The space in this kitchen is wonderfully crafted around the shape of this “ephemeral origami…”

Picture 9Again, the room reflects the strong verticals in this lighting, and it sets the tone for everything from the curve accents in the shelving to the graceful angles under the chairs.

Picture 11The warm tones here complement the wood, and there is a great balance between straight lines and round accents.

Picture 12The long stretches of rope that hold these lights up mimic and accentuate the depth in the staircase.

I hope these inspire you to make a change this winter or at least give you something warm to look at as the weather gets colder.
