It’s hard to one up your neighbors. You need something really, really good. Like a helicopter pad on the roof of your condo. Or an alligator living in the courtyard garden. Or spending a vacation in a space hotel…

Seriously.

“Commercial space ships are being built around the world — they will need to fly somewhere,” says Alexander Derechin, deputy chief designer with Energia.

Energia, a Russian partly state-owned contractor, has partnered with Orbital Technologies to develop a hotel in space. The hotel will be able to accommodate seven guests at a time and is slated for completion around 2015.
