The Most Expensive Penthouse in the World
$308 million for a penthouse in Monaco- that’s how much an undisclosed buyer, rumored to be an Arab sheikh or Greek billionaire, paid for what is most certainly the most expensive penthouse sale ever. Previous owner Edmund Safra was a billionaire banker who died in 1999 in a fire under what The Real Deal calls “mysterious circumstances.” This sale dwarfs the previous record-holding sale of $220 million for an apartment in London.
So what do you get for $308 million? 17,500 square feet of a duplex penthouse with an infinity pool, roof terraces and platinum leaf detail on the ceiling. And a panic room. Here’s a glimpse at what it looks like:
